This is a masterpiece, I like your critical thinking. I agree, most of us were wrongly programmed to depend on our salary and trading our time and skills for money to be another brick in the wall :). Considering the instilled belief that money is evil, that is not true, money is a tool for personal freedom :). That is what I write in my content :).

Money as a tool is the right way to see it. Most of us got taught the opposite as kids.

It’s a societal narrative that benefits someone, but certainly not us as individuals.

The part about unlearning the need for permission really hit home. I’ve started sharing stories from my life that I spent years feeling I should hide. The response has been warmer than I ever imagined. It makes me wonder how long I confused being afraid with not being ready. That’s something I’m still untangling. Thank you for this.

Yessss!! We trap ourselves and make ourselves so small feeling we need permission. It’s soo easy to confuse not being ready for fear. I’ve done it myself so much. But when I’ve stepped out and acted in faith I’ve gotten exactly what I wanted. This post helped me make that connection. I still have to do the work to manage my mind but I see how far this can go!!

Best wishes to you in the untangling!!!

Thank you! I love what you said about stepping out in faith. I’m learning that I can feel afraid and still take the next step. Wishing you well in your untangling, too! ❤️

Devon, I’m a doctor-in-training, and what struck me is that “Kevin is the programming” is basically cognitive defusion, a technique from ACT therapy with solid evidence for loosening the grip of negative self-talk. One small nuance from the neuro side: the RAS handles arousal, and the “red Ferrari everywhere” effect comes more from selective attention. But the mechanism you describe is real: what you rehearse is what you notice. After two years in hospital training, I’ve felt this firsthand. My “I’m not ready yet” was loud. This week I’m naming mine and taping the opposite belief to my mirror. Failure #9 by Friday. 😄

Love the “pencil, not ink” idea, and the Kevin trick is legit therapy (cognitive defusion). One challenge: beliefs and income correlate, but poverty also creates limiting beliefs by taxing mental bandwidth, so it’s a loop, not a one-way street. Would love your take on that. I’m naming my voice this week!

Your attention is what shapes the future of your reality. This is a banger. Thanks for the read, bro!

Learning about the RAS was life changing for me. Something as simple as understanding how paying attention to what you’re paying attention to is so life altering

Have you been reading my mind or am I reading yours? I've just begun to write about programming your RAS for a successful life, on your terms. This post should up...with this title...and it made my RAS stand to attention. I thought, Did I accidentally post my idea before I felt it was ready?? Nah.... Then I read yours...it's a delectable way of illustrating how we can use our innate faculties in our service. I'll still write mine because it has a different angle for the reader to consider. I was inspired and intrigued by this and will be applying your sage advice. YOU ROCK!

Wow, you know me!

I NEED to learn RAS. I desire to reprogram myself, to deny my negatively programed self!

Not all of us PhDs are bastards…recovering academic over here and living the RAS system.

🤭🤭🤭 Here’s to being one of the good ones!!! lol I’d love to hear about your recovery? What even sparked the idea in you that a change was needed?

So real….

Sometimes, the problem isn’t that we don’t know what to do, but that our minds have already convinced us it’s impossible. Growth begins when we challenge what we believe.

Thank you for this insight by the way
